About the role
We are looking for curious problem-solvers who can apply AI to build tools, automate workflows, and improve customer experiences and internal systems.
As a Front-End Engineer, you will build performant, accessible web experiences at the intersection of design, AI, and distributed systems. Your work will shape how millions of subscribers interact with their telecommunications services.
This is a full-time, on-site position within a major telco’s engineering team in Tokyo. You will work directly on client premises, collaborating with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver digital products.
What you’ll do
- Design and build performant web applications that shape how customers interact with the telco’s platform.
- Implement component-driven interfaces using React and TypeScript, backed by robust APIs.
- Translate complex design systems into reusable, accessible HTML5 and CSS3 components.
- Ensure cross-browser and cross-device reliability, optimizing speed, responsiveness, and accessibility.
- Partner with client stakeholders, designers, and backend engineers to prototype, experiment, and iterate on new experiences.
- Contribute to front-end architecture decisions, performance tuning, and CI/CD workflows.
- Balance user needs, design intent, technical feasibility, and product goals.
- Apply AI tools and workflows to accelerate development, automate testing, and improve code quality.
What you’ll need
- At least 1 year of experience building and scaling modern web applications.
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools, including LLMs and automated agents.
- Expertise in React.js, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3/SASS/LESS, and responsive design.
- Experience integrating with distributed backend systems and RESTful or GraphQL APIs at scale.
- Understanding of state management libraries such as Redux, Zustand, or Recoil, and component architecture.
- Familiarity with build tools such as Webpack or Vite, and testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress.
- A track record of delivering high-quality software in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, technical curiosity, and a bias for action.
- Business-level English communication skills for a client-facing role.
Nice to have
- Experience with Next.js, Remix, or design systems such as Storybook, Material UI, or Radix.
What we’ll provide
- The opportunity to work on mission-critical systems for one of Japan’s leading telecommunications providers.
- A collaborative environment with direct client engagement.
- Continuous learning and growth opportunities, including access to AI tooling and modern development practices.
- Competitive compensation and benefits.
